Pave the Jungle
The vehicle for Rachael Whittle’s swaggering, off-kilter, yet decidedly arena-sized compositions, Pave The Jungle formed early in 2019 in Newcastle.
Soon enlisting drummer & long-term collaborator Scott Jeffery to help realise her revived sonic vision, the pair entered Blank Studios that summer, and by year’s end had created a six-track mission statement in debut EP ‘The Hissing’.
Despite the pandemic grounding live plans, preparations to deliver The Hissing in the second half of 2020 continued. Upon its release that October, the EP was met with positive reviews from a respectable selection of press & radio; early adopters of the band including DIY, Punktastic, VISIONS (DE), Total Rock Radio, 6 Music & BBC Introducing.
Pave The Jungle returned to Blank in January 2021 to track their second EP. With engineer Chris McManus at the helm once again, the four tracks were mixed by Tarek Musa (Spring King, The Big Moon, Calva Louise) and released as the ‘Waiting For Nothing’ EP in November 2021.
Following extensive national touring throughout 2021 and 2022, the pair are currently at work on their debut full length.
